WHY HIRE A LANDSCAPE DESIGNER?

While there is a cost to hiring a landscape designer, it is ultimately more economical to work with an expert to create a concept plan specifically for you. According to the Journal of Environmental Horticulture, a high-quality landscape design increases the home sale price up to 10.8 percent, compared to a home with a simply average landscape. When your with your family and friends enjoying your yard, you likely want to have a beautiful yard with a design that expresses your style and who you are. If you are inexperienced with plant layout- material selection - and landscaping in general you may want to consult a landscape designer that has the proper training in functional and visual landscaping concepts.

WHAT IS A CONCEPT PLAN?

A "Concept Plan" includes all the materials, photos and layout of the scope of work for the landscape. We create a concept plan as part of your outdoor landscaping which provides information a landscape contractor will need to provide an accurate landscape estimate. Concept designs do not include the following information - construction details or specifications for elements like pergolas, decks, pools, ADUs, gas-lines, electrical lines, drains, grading and structures. A "Master Plan" will include all of these details if contracted for landscape installation.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LANDSCAPE DESIGNER & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT?

Landscape architects must hold a degree and are state licensed and regulated by the California architects’ board. Landscape architects work on a wide range of projects, typically focusing on larger scale work like commercial and industrial, schools, universities, and residential home developments. Landscape Architects also provide Construction documents, details, and specifications for the landscape features such as requiring grading and drainage plans. Landscape Designers are experts at residential design, typically with a deep-rooted knowledge of plant and hardscape materials for residential homes and gardens. Landscape Designers create visual concept designs for single family homes.
